I work with dog owners and other canine professionals where pain or discomfort could be a factor in the dog’s behaviour.
When we take a dog to the vet and they get a clean bill of health it can be down to the dogs nervous system being in a high stress state, leading to the dogs masking the issues that have been observed in everyday life.
It can make it very difficult for a vet to identify issues when they are not demonstrated during the dogs examination. Discomfort or pain is often unidentified in a vet surgery due to the fear or even what appears to be excitement which can cause the dog to maks their symptoms.
